Crochet & Knitting Go WILD: Create a One-of-a-Kind Triangle Scarf!

Wild Thing is the most in-depth exploration of my freeform method yet!

In Wild Thing, you’ll discover a completely new dimension of yarn creativity. We’ll blend crochet and knitting, weave in beads as we go, and dance between ultra-thin and super-chunky yarns—mixing fancy fibers like fringe, faux fur, silk mohair, cotton, and wool.

By the end, you’ll have crafted a beautiful, one-of-a-kind shawl that’s like no other, while also picking up fresh techniques and playful ways of working with yarn. And if you’ve got a stash of yarn you’re itching to use, this is the perfect project to mix up all your favorite fibers from past projects and see them in a whole new light.

What You’ll Need for the Course:

  • Basic crochet and knitting skills
  • A mix of yarns, hooks, and needles—don’t worry, I’ll send all the details October 1st.

"I am really loving the Wild Thing Masterclass. I thought it was going to be too difficult for me as I have only done basic crochet projects, but Aluma is an amazing teacher and explains all the steps very clearly."   M.P

" This class has been so inspiring and a wonderful experience! I am much better at crocheting than knitting but I have been able to do the knitting parts just fine which was my concern." Joan

FAQ

How do I access my course?

As soon as you sign up, you’ll be taken to a purchase confirmation page where you can access your course library.

Later on, whenever you want to jump back in, just head to "Course Access" at the top menu of my website alumafashion.com. It’s always waiting there for you! 🌟

I’m completely new to crochet. Can I still take your courses?

Yes! If you’re brand new to crochet, I’d recommend starting with my free Learn to Crochet course. It’s perfect for teaching you the basics and building your confidence with foundational stitches. From there, I’d suggest easing into this journey with a beginner-friendly project like the FreeSpirit Workshop or The Cozy. These will help you really get comfortable with the stitches and the flow of crochet. Once you’ve gained that confidence, you can move on to more creative and freestyle designs like Rebel Rebel, Dreamcatcher, or Flower Power—whichever one sparks your interest the most! This way, you’ll feel supported every step of the way while exploring your creativity. 💛

What if I’ve never tried a creative freestyle project before?

No need to worry! Freestyle crochet is all about embracing imperfection and letting your imagination take the lead. I’ll guide you every step of the way, so you’ll feel supported and inspired—even if you’ve never strayed from a pattern before.

My courses are designed to be approachable, fun, and freeing. You’ll be amazed at what you can create when you let go of the pressure to be “perfect.”

I’ve crocheted before, but I’m not sure I have enough experience. Will I be able to keep up?

Absolutely! My courses are designed to meet you exactly where you are. Whether you’ve just dabbled in crochet or have been at it for years, the step-by-step video lessons make it super easy to follow along at your own pace. You can pause, rewind, or slow down the videos as much as you need—and the best part? You can revisit the course anytime. Plus, because we focus on freestyle techniques, there’s zero pressure to be “perfect.” It’s all about experimenting, having fun, and creating something that feels uniquely you.💛

What if I’m not creative or don’t feel confident experimenting?

You don’t need to feel like a “creative person” to enjoy freestyle crochet! My courses are all about helping you break free from rigid patterns and discover the joy of experimenting with colors, textures, and stitches. You’ll gain confidence as you go, and I’ll be there to guide you every step of the way.💛

I’m worried I won’t have time to complete the course.

No pressure here! The courses are self-paced, so you can learn whenever it fits into your schedule. Whether you’re crocheting during your morning coffee or late at night, you’ll have lifetime access to revisit the lessons whenever you need.💛

I loved the course and creating my wild scarf! It's not yet done. Such a fun piece to work on -no... not 'work' on 'cause work implies ' tedium'. Rather a fun piece that involves 'play'...playing with colours and textures and layers. Your patient explanations, the clarity of your instructions, the amount of time you spend on colour choices, the time you spend acknowledging our creations, the respect you show to each of us, your positivity and joyous demeanor, Aluma, are the reason for my 5 star rating.
I did experience some challenges but they were no fault of yours . This course requires an ability to both crochet and knit. I'm a seasoned crocheter but an inexperienced knitter. I had to relearn how to knit- to cast on and off and as a result had trouble with part 1. I redid it a number of times...again...not because the course was the problem but because I was lacking in knitting skill and knowledge. I managed to do the beading after a few redos but had trouble casting off the faux fur stitches so in the end I crocheted the last 2 of the knitting rows. I'll be making more WILD THINGS and will continue to hone my knitting skills. Thanks for everything !!

I absolutely love all of Aluma's courses, they are unlike anything out there..but this one has stolen my heart and ignited my Sou! With every other course I have learned many techniques and made beautiful pieces, but this one has truly brought play and creativity back to my little child and a sense of flow I had almost forgotten! I've been enjoying every stitch (in knitting & crochet), every color and texture decision...but above all it has truly given me a fearless sense of play! I can't recommend this course enough! It is invaluable (and Aluma with her way of teaching makes it accessible to all levels).

I am really loving the Wild Thing Masterclass. I thought it was going to be too difficult for me as I have only done basic crochet projects, but Aluma is an amazing teacher and explains all the steps very clearly. I hope to try another one of her projects in the future.

I hesitated at first — I’ve done almost all of Aluma’s workshops and have been crocheting for over 30 years — but wow, there was still so much new to discover!

Aluma’s way of teaching is so inspiring, joyful, and freeing. Her explanations and videos are clear, her energy is warm, and the pace of the live session felt just right — calm, creative, and fun. I also loved seeing everyone’s creations unfold and how different they all turned out.

I usually don’t enjoy knitting and was a bit worried that part might be too difficult, but with Aluma’s gentle guidance it became surprisingly relaxing — even therapeutic. Using stash yarn (plus a few new skeins I couldn’t resist 😇) and adding beads made it playful and fun. Watching the piece grow was a little addictive — I couldn’t stop!

For anyone hesitating: don’t. This workshop is full of creativity, calm, and inspiration — a beautiful reminder of the simple joy of creating with your hands.

This class has been so inspiring and a wonderful experience! I am much better at crocheting than knitting but I have been able to do the knitting parts just fine which was my concern. Aluma is a wonderful teacher and very quick to answer questions and so encouraging throughout the class.
